At St. Petersburg Collegiate High School, our students take an active role in charting their individual academic path with the assistance of a guidance counselor and academic advisor. Development of an educational plan is based upon personal and career goals, test scores, previous high school and college course work, and current lifestyles. A key factor in student success is having a sound educational plan.

An academic advisor and guidance counselor are available to instruct and counsel all new, returning, and continuing students in the following areas:

  • Educational plan development
  • Choosing appropriate courses for desired major
  • Meeting requirements for graduation
  • Utilizing self-advising resources and tools
  • Coaching on strategies that promote academic success such as, study skills, time management, test anxiety, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Preparation for college transfer or graduation

 

In addition, personalized career planning is available to all students. A variety of services are available to assist students with setting their career goals and preparing for employment, including:

  • Career assessment and exploration
  • Interest and personality assessments
  • Internships and work-study programs
  • Information on full and part-time positions
  • Resumes and cover letters information
  • Interviewing and job search strategies
  • Preparation for entering the workforce
