Troy Alston sets new world record in stair-climbing

While many know Troy Alston as SPC’s Collegiate High School marketing coordinator, few know that his daily drive reaches far beyond the campus walls and up the stairwells of the world’s tallest skyscrapers!

Troy is an internationally ranked stair-climber and three-time Atlas World Record holder. Most recently, he was certified by Atlas World Records for achieving the most documented stair-climbing race victories within a single state or province, recognizing 70 victories across Florida between 2010 and 2026.

A former track athlete who specialized in 400-meter hurdles, he turned to competitive stair climbing 15 years ago as cross-training. Today, he stands as one of the sport’s most decorated global competitors, having completed more than 145 races across 34 cities and establishing over 50 course records throughout North America and Europe.

His signature achievement came in Jacksonville, Florida, where he earned an Atlas World Record for winning the annual Jacksonville Fight For Air Climb 14 consecutive times from 2012 to 2025. He also holds the fastest ascent record at the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls, ascending 660 steps in 3 minutes and 2 seconds. That performance earned him the Key to the City of Niagara Falls, making him the first competitive stair climber to receive the honor.

Whether managing the high schools’ social media or tackling 50 flights of concrete stairs, Troy attributes his success to steady discipline and long-term vision.

“Peak performance doesn’t happen overnight,” Troy said. “It comes down to daily preparation, tracking your progress and pushing past mental limits — one step at a time.”
